| Week | Format | Camp | Ages | Price |
| 6/15-6/19 | AM 9:00-12:00pm | Raspberry Pi Get hooked on the coolest mini-computer, the Raspberry Pi! Build your own computer, then program on it with Python or Scratch. Ages 8+ | Ages 8+ | (Code "EARLY50" at checkout) |
| 6/15-6/19 | PM 12:30-3:30pm | Roblox! If you've heard of Minecraft, you probably have heard of its cousin Roblox. In this summer camp, participants will get to create and publish their own Roblox game to Roblox website for the world to play. Campers will spend each day building an Obby (Roblox lingo for Obstacle course) using the amazing Roblox Studio platform. Campers will learn the basics of creating games in a 3D environment. They will also learn about the programming language Lua by modifying pre-programmed blocks to suit their obstacle course needs. Ages 8+ | Ages 8+ | (Code "EARLY50" at checkout) |
| 6/22-6/26 | AM 9:00-12:00pm | AI Rise of Machines Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the buzzword of the day, and we’re ready to help you tackle it. This camp teaches kids about how AI and chatGPT works and its uses, and may use a platform to create their own AI image recognition bots. We may also dive into coding algorithms that mimic computer intelligence, and will use different languages depending on camper skills. Some coding experience required. Ages 9+ | Ages 9+ | (Code "EARLY50" at checkout) |
| 6/22-6/26 | PM 12:30-3:30pm | Python Startup Who’s ready for some PYTHON! Sounds a little gross, like a giant snake right? But it’s actually one of the hottest languages around today. Take advantage of the easy-to-read style of coding while picking up on one of the most popular languages today for professional and beginner coders alike. We’ll start out by using an online python platform to learn some basics and practice some fundamental concepts, and time permitting and based on our camper skill set, we may jump on to some more complex Python coding, potentially getting into coding with PyGame. Ages 9+ | Ages 9+ | (Code "EARLY50" at checkout) |
| 6/29-7/3 | AM 9:00-12:00pm | We Know Arduino This camp takes coding and combines it with electronics in the most practical and hands-on way by using an Arduino (ar-DWEE-no) Microcontroller. Campers will get to physically connect and program components such as LEDs and sensors. Technology is forever continuing to connect more and more devices so this is such a valuable skill to learn and understand. It's the pathway to robotics, IoT, and automation. Plus it's super fun to get to tinker with all these hardware components and see them work! Ages 9+ | Ages 9+ | (Code "EARLY50" at checkout) |
| 6/29-7/3 | PM 12:30-3:30 | Minecraft! Let’s face it: Kids love video games. It’s quickly becoming one of the best ways for kids to learn computer science skills — especially coding. At theCoderSchool, we can teach coding through the video game Minecraft. Kids at our Minecraft Coding Camps learn how to build, create, and modify in their worlds through coding. We use Minecraft for our summer camps and sometimes even our after-school programs because kids love it: It’s easy to learn, is engaging, and is perfect for kids 8 years old and up. Ages 9+ | Ages 9+ | (Code "EARLY50" at checkout) |
| 7/6-7/10 | AM 9:00-12:00pm | Robotics If you’re excited by the thought of controlling physical robots, look no further than our Robocode camp! This camp uses various small robots to code and control movements. We use mBots or other similar robots, and include building of the robot itself. Students are welcome to purchase the robot on their own (we will send you the link) to take home after or students are able to use ours that we take back after the camp! Ages 8+ | Ages 8+ | (Code "EARLY50" at checkout) |
| 7/6-7/10 | PM 12:30-3:30pm | Game Development We'll be using cool drag n' drop languages like Scratch or Snap to create some cool new and classic games! Aimed at our newbie and novice coders, this camp is a great way to get exposed to coding, or dig deeper into game design and development skills. It's amazing how fast you can build a playable game these days and learn coding concepts at the same time. Ages 8+ | Ages 8+ | (Code "EARLY50" at checkout) |

Hi! We're Justin and Robin Brown, co-owners of theCoderSchool-North Shore. As a local family, we are excited to bring theCoderSchool to the North Shore! Robin grew up in Deerfield and has been involved in the education world through her work as a registered dietitian. Though Robin's coding experience is minimal, she knows that teaching our kids to code is just as important as teaching them to eat healthy and be active for their futures.
Justin grew up in the suburbs of Michigan and came to Chicago for law school. As an entrepreneur, Justin decided to learn how to code so he could build his own websites. While taking classes, Justin knew that he one day wanted to teach his own kids and others how to code. Justin and Robin have twin toddlers with one on the way. Though they are too young to take classes now, they'll be signed up for classes as soon as they can read and type!
Hi! We're Chad and Karen, co-owners of theCoderSchool-North Shore. As a local family, we are also excited to bring theCoderSchool to the North Shore!
Karen grew up in Deerfield and has been involved in the education world through her work as an inclusion facilitator in the Glencoe School District. She has a passion for providing equality of access to education and believes that the same applies to technology and coding.
Chad grew up in the suburbs of Cincinnati and came to Chicago after graduating from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. After moving to Chicago, Chad also graduated from DePaul University’s MBA Program. As someone who has a passion for technology and education, Chad has worked in EdTech for the past 9 years - initially as a National Lead for T-Mobile's "Connecting the Classroom" initiative and more recently as a Strategic Accounts Director at Blackboard, K-12. In his experience, he has seen the importance of incorporating a personalized approach to learning as means to better engage kids to learn. Chad and Karen have two daughters, Ella and Tessa. Although they are not yet ready for code coaching, we are confident they will be masters of Scratch soon enough!
We're always looking for great Code Coaches. Shoot us an email with resumé to see if we're a fit!
As you and your family consider coding programs, it helps to keep in mind:
Whether the student wants to explore Minecraft modding in Minecraft camp, is interested in HTML, or wants to learn block-based coding like CSS, our interactive classes provide a great coding experience.
